This fabric has an Ultraviolet Protection Factor of UPF 40+, designed to shield skin covered by the fabric & reduce exposure to harmful UVA & UVB rays, letting you get out there to enjoy the sun safely.

Sun exposure causes skin damage. Only covered areas are shielded. The UPF rating of the fabric may be reduced with use or if stretched or wet. We recommend using several types of sun guard & even with protection avoid being in the sun during the hottest part of the day and/or for long periods of time. SolarShield is Craghoppers’ range of sun protective fabric tested for UV-protection UPF40+. Sun-protection is given by a combination of 3 things, the density of the fabric construction, the type of yarns used and its colour.

They play a large part in the development of skin cancers including melanoma. About 95 percent of the UV rays that reach the ground are UVA rays. The other 5 percent of UV rays are UVB.
