Some people spent their twenties backpacking through Europe. John Kinghorn spent his chasing small brown birds across southern Africa, sleeping in cars, and explaining to petrol attendants why he was wearing binoculars at 2 a.m. It’s time he came clean.
Join the Craghoppers South Africa community at Hazelwood Village Walk, Pretoria, for an evening of pints, pipits and long-overdue confessions. John, devoted birder and passionate naturalist will own up to the highlights, the near-misses and the downright ridiculous moments from almost 20 years of youthful birding, including his race around Southern Africa to record 800 species of bird in a single year.
Expect great stories, a few life lessons learned the hard way, and the chance to make some birding confessions of your own. Whether you're able to tell your pipits from your larks (respect) or think they’re all just “little brown jobs” (also fine), this is an evening for all who have even a mild interest in nature and adventure.
Then put your birding brain to the test in a friendly quiz, with Craghoppers prizes up for grabs.
Bring your mates. Bring your humour. We’ll bring the birding banter.
